The following are from an exhibition of forty watercolors depicting a panorama of life in the Tar Heel State in the late 1900s. It was commissioned by the Wachovia Bank and exhibited throughout North Carolina for two years before permanent exhibition at the Wachovia Bank in Winston-Salem.

These paintings are from an exhibition of thirty-five watercolors depicting North Carolina at the turn of the twentieth century. It was shown throughout North Carolina for four years and is now on loan to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Other North Carolina Paintings

Wilmington is one of the more historic cities in the United States. Exploration of the area dates from the 1500s, and the settlements there led to the founding of Wilmington in 1732. The city was prominent in both the Revolutionary War and the War Between the States. The works that follow reflect the pride and love that Sam developed for Wilmington and the Lower Cape Fear area after his arrival in 1936, as well as his interest in other parts of the state.
